May 31, 2018
Calling for Unagi Lovers! From 1 June till 31 July 2018, Nadai Fujisoba NI-HACHI will be having a new seasonal menu, "Tanabata Set".
The "Tanabata Set" comes with Unagi Oshi-sushi, Somen and Unagi Chawanmushi. All these for only $15.80++!
During Summer season in Japan, somen is a common food eaten by the Japanese as it is cold and refreshing. As for unagi, beside being tasty, it is believed that it helps to boost your stamina to fight against the unbearable heat.

Do you know what does "Tanabata" means? It is written as 「七夕」in Japanese. Yes, it is the same as Chinese 七夕 (Qi Xi) but they do not follow the lunar calendar.

Every year on July 7th, the Japanese hang bamboo decorations to celebrate Tanabata. Also known as the Star Festival, the special occasion revolves around the love story between two deities: Orihime (織姫) and Hikoboshi (彦星).
According to the folktale, they neglected their duties upon being madly in love. The heavenly gods got angry and separated the lovebirds, granting them a chance to meet once a year out of sympathy. To ensure that Orihime and Hikoboshi reunite each year, the Japanese pray for good weather during Tanabata.
It is also believed that your wishes will come true if you write them on a long strip of coloured paper called Tanzaku, and put it up on bamboo branches.
When you dine at Fujisoba between 1 June and 31 July 2017, you get to write your wish on the Tanzaku and hang it on the bamboo branches at the reception counter.
Head over to Fujisoba to enjoy good food and experience the fun Japanese culture!
